The Pizzeria

The Pizzeria at the Giardino Torre was created to preserve the memory of the historic oven rediscovered inside the Casamento.

Commissioned by Ferdinand II of Bourbon, it entered the chronicles thanks to one of the most illustrious pizzaiuoli and maccaronari (pizza and macaroni makers) of the day: Don Domenico Testa.

It is said that Queen Maria Theresa expressed the wish to taste pizza during a royal visit.

Legend also has it that in the summer of 1889 the first pizza with tomato and mozzarella was baked in this very oven for Queen Margherita, giving the celebrated pizza Margherita its name.
